2026 so far...

Wow, August is soon over, time is flying… This month is a bit quieter, time to reflect and to share some of the workshop and trade show highlights of 2026 - enjoy !

One of my highlights to start the Year 2026 with was the visit of the YAYOI KUSAMA exhibition at Fondation Beyeler in Riehen / Switzerland. So well curated and so impressive… as the following photos show…

They working year 2026 also started well with a workshop at Modefachschule Sigmaringen. Its title: “Once I was a trade show banner”… We got used banners from the last edition of the Munich Fabric Start trade show and the challenge was to reuse these very different materials - from light and soft to hard, waterproof and heavy - for something new. There was a great atmosphere during the workshop - sharing, inspring, learning from each other and helping each other. See some impressions below.

End of January, Gunold as well as Modefachschule Sigmaringen had a booth at the MUNICH FABRIC START show and as ususal, it was THE place to work, to network and to meet well-known customers, new friends and partners and to enjoy a creative exchange and atmosphere together:

More of my workshops followed then of course at Modefachschule Sigmaringen (by the way, all of them together with Jutta Erb, THANK YOU JUTTA !!) and the themes were “blind contour drawing”, “embroidered patches”, “free standing lace embroidery” and “experimental embroidery” - you see, it’s all about creativity, discovering interesting textile techniques and most important, to explore own preferences and talents. See some impressions here below:

Excursions: Wonderful to see how many companies and organisations openend again the doors for our design students. Today they are students, tomorrow they buy products or work for companies, so in my personal eyes, it is the best the companies can do: invite the young generation to show them companies, products and techniques. And so they did, see the impressions below:

And to finish with another WOW (!!) - once again, Modefachschule Sigmaringen (and me 😎) were honored to exhibit at the Munich Fabric Start show from 14-16 July as part of the SUSTAINABLE INNOVATIONS forum, curated by Simon Angel. Used sofa leathers, given by Femke Mostert / colleatheration were used to produce couture fashion pieces, created by 12 design students from “Mofa”. Each of the three show days, a group of students was live on the fair, together with the teachers Jutta Erb and Annette Hecht-Bauer to present their work and to meet the visitors and to discuss about the future of fashion - the feedback we got was simply amazing !

Thanks for your interest and for joining my textile journey- I am already very curious to see which new adventures are waiting for us out there… So see you soon !!
